2025 4-star RB Jordon Davison left Texas feeling like a top priority
Jordon Davison was back in Austin this weekend. The elite running back out of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei is a top target for the Longhorns and he is very familiar with the program. Davison has a strong relationship with Tashard Choice, he has visited Texas four or five times and the SEC program continues to sit high on his list.
“I feel good about Texas,” Davison told On3. “The coaches are great, the program is going in the right direction and I feel they will be good in the years to come. Texas recruits me hard, I have good relationships and things are good there.”
Davison has yet to trim his list, but when he does, Texas is expected to be on it. They are competing with schools like Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon and others. One of his best relationships is with Coach Choice.
“We chopped it up a good bit this weekend. Me and Coach Choice talked about a lot of different things, we watched a little film and he really got to know my mom. He is just a good coach and a good person.
“Coach Choice is genuine as a person and very consistent as a coach. He keeps it real, he develops his players and he is not going to let his players fail under him. He is just a great guy.”
Davison received valuable feedback from Texas players
The No. 66 prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking spent time with a couple of Texas running backs this weekend too. Jerrick Gibson just moved to Austin and he spoke highly of the staff, but Cedric Baxter really laid it out for Davison.
“I got real feedback from Ced. He talked to me about the good and the bad. We talked the program, Coach Choice and he told me a lot. Ced talked about Coach Choice pushing his players super-hard and it was great to hear what he had to say. He and Jerrick are in the system, they are going through it, so what they told me is so valuable.”
Davison spent time with Steve Sarkisian too. The two have a good relationship. It was his first time Davison’s mom met the Texas head coach. A lot of his time went to the family, but he and Choice made their message clear to the elite running back.
“They made me feel like a top priority,” Davison said. “I wanted my mom to get a feel for the coaches, for her to see the type of guys they are all that went well. But they made it clear and repeated it to me, that I am a priority for them. They showed me repeatedly.”
