2026 Four-star EDGE Jamarion Carlton recaps his latest Texas trip

One of Texas’ top recruiting targets for 2026 was back on campus Thursday for the UT Bash event. Temple (Texas) EDGE Jamarion Carlton has been a frequent guest of the Horns and they certainly hope that doesn’t change.

The 6-foot-4.5, 236-pound four-star with an 83-inch wingspan and 35-inch arm length continues to build a strong relationship with Texas defensive coordinator Pete Kwaitkowski. He attended UT’s Elite Camp in June and was just ready for a return.

“I spent a lot of time with coach PK today,” said Carlton. “He was talking to me as soon as I get here. After I measured in, went to the meeting room, and talked to him a little bit more there. Basically I was talking to him most of the day. I just got out of meeting with him actually.”

He already holds offers from Texas, Ohio State, LSU, Nebraska, Texas A&M, and Kansas State. And that list will only continue to build. Why the sudden return to the Forty Acres?

“I just want to build up the relationships with the coaches, get the feel of everything, watch players practice, and see how they operate as a team,” Carlton told Inside Texas. “Colin Simmons stood out. I’ve been watching him a while now. He’s my favorite guy to watch.”

Carlton, who is also getting closer to head coach Steve Sarkisian, continued gushing over the Longhorns.

“I feel like it’s a good place here and they put players where they need to be,” said Carlton. “They help people with a whole lot of things, and help develop people the most.”

He’ll be at Texas A&M on Friday, Texas Tech on Saturday, and Baylor on Tuesday. Then back home to prepare for his junior season for the Wildcats.

The Central Texas product collected 29 tackles for Temple in 2023 with 4.0 for loss plus 3.0 sacks, while netting an interception and a pass breakup.

Carlton is ranked as the No. 71 overall prospect, the No. 6 EDGE, and the No. 8 player in Texas in the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. On3 ranks Carlton higher than any other service as the No. 36 overall prospect, the No. 5 EDGE, and the No. 3 player in Texas.
