4-star Miami DL target lists Hurricanes as ‘one of my top schools’
Miami may have lost out on five-star defensive lineman Armondo Blount Sunday when he announced his decision to reclassify from the 2025 class to the 2024 class and flip to Florida State, but the Hurricanes are in play for one of his 2025 four-star teammates.
Miami (Fla.) Central 2025 four-star defensive lineman Randy Adirika, a top-300 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, listed the Hurricanes as “one of my top schools” following Miami’s 28-20 double-overtime win over Clemson this weekend, which marked his second game day visit to Hard Rock Stadium this fall. He is currently the No. 30 defensive lineman in a strong 2025 class.
Miami has made one of the most aggressive recruiting efforts for the 6-foot-5, 248-pound defensive tackle along with Florida State, Penn State and Rutgers, who Adirika said “are all up there.” However, Miami has made strong impressions on Adirika’s two visits for the Hurricanes’ games against Texas A&M and Clemson so far this season.
Comprehensive recap: Top Miami football recruits react to Hurricanes’ stunning 2OT win over Clemson
“I think the Canes, they’ve got something special going on,” Adirika said. “If they keep working, they’re gonna be good. I thought the atmosphere (at the Clemson game) was crazy in (regulation), and then in overtime it just picked up times two.”
Adirika also has plenty of interest in Florida State and plans to be in Tallahassee Nov. 11 for the Miami-FSU game as a Florida State recruit. He laughingly said he isn’t sure who he’ll root for in the game, but he’s looking forward to the intensity of one of a major rivalry game. He has taken unofficial visits to both programs.
He added he felt Miami’s win over Clemson “definitely” helped the way he views the Hurricane program after head coach Mario Cristobal earned arguably his biggest win yet in his two seasons as Miami’s program leader. He was also impressed by the atmosphere and crowd’s energy, particularly when the Hurricanes mounted a 10-point fourth-quarter comeback and found defensive success in overtime.
CaneSport’s Take
There were rumors surrounding Adirika being the Hurricanes’ next 2025 commit shortly after Blount initially committed to Miami in mid-September, but for now it doesn’t appear Adirika will make a commitment any time soon. He’s been adamant he hopes to visit schools and form stronger opinions of the programs recruiting him before he makes any decisions, and it’s very likely he returns to Miami’s campus at some point, although specifics aren’t yet known.
