4-star RB James Simon enjoys another Tiger Stadium experience

2025 four-star Shreveport (La.) Calvary Baptist running back James Simon was in Tiger Stadium for another visit this past weekend. LSU hosted him for the Grambling game now had him back for when the Tigers faced Florida.

The visit impressed in a big way.

“It was a great time, great atmosphere,” Simon told On3. “Really got the full experience. It was great. The atmosphere is electric, by far the best in the country.”

The message from LSU to Simon was simple.

“They want me there,” Simon said. “I’m a big target for them and they hoped I had a great time.”

A decision timeframe is starting to emerge for Simon as LSU leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Official visits will come this summer.

“I know I’d like to put out a Top 5 in the spring and either early in my season or before the season for my decision,” he said.

Now that he’s able to hear from college coaches, the junior is getting plenty of attention. “Most of the SEC,” Arizona, Miami, TCU, Oregon, USC and others are coming after him hard, he said this fall. Alabama and Georgia are two programs also in the mix and he also has a visit set to Texas for the final regular season game.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Simon ranks as the No. 176 overall prospect in the country, No. 16 running back in the nation and No. 4 prospect in Louisiana. On3 ranks him as the No. 124 overall prospect and No. 8 running back.
