5-star Texas A&M commit planning Florida official visit
One of the nation’s elite wide receivers was in Gainesville on Saturday, marking his third experience with Billy Napier and the Gators.
That prospect is 5-star Texas A&M commit Cam Coleman of Phenix City (Ala.) Central.
“It was pretty nice; it was pretty electrifying. I finally got to see the Gators in action and we saw them in action,” Coleman said after the game.
While in attendance, Coleman kept close tabs on plenty of the newcomers, including Eugene Wilson III, a former 5-star prospect himself.
According to the 2024 prospect, the Gators are backing up their recruiting pitch to him.
“It proves that freshmen can play early. No. 3 (Eugene Wilson III) is an example. Some of the defensive players like No. 11 (Kelby Collins), he’s another example. Freshmen playing early, that is what they are preaching. It’s showing in the game.”
Coleman received the red-carpet treatment on Saturday
According to Coleman, Florida is one of three schools pushing the hardest to flip him.
The other programs are Auburn and Florida State.
“I speak with coach Gonzales, coach Doeker, coach Spencer, all of those boys; coach Napier as well,” Coleman said. “They’re saying I can come here and change the program around: Me Izaiah (Williams) and the other 2024 wide receivers. We can all come here and change the program around.”
For Coleman, another highlight of today’s visit was having face time with the coaching staff.
“I really put names to the faces and caught a vibe in person. Really, just catching the vibe in person,” Coleman said.
Another trip to the Swamp is in the works
Although a date is not scheduled, Coleman says he is definitely returning to Florida for an official visit. That multi-day trip is expected to take place in December.
What is the All-American hoping to see out of that visit?
“I’ve really seen everything,” Coleman said. “Really, (I like how) it feels like family here. Also, the atmosphere here and the feeling I get when I come here.”
If all goes as planned, Coleman is returning to Tallahassee next weekend for the FSU-Miami game.
What about the Aggies? How is everything going with that commitment?
“It’s pretty good right now; it’s pretty good,” Coleman said.
