Nate Oats and his staff are gearing up to welcome yet another Class of 2024 small forward on campus for an official visit.

After hosting Billy Richmond and Derrion Reid for officials in October, BamaOnLine can confirm that Naas Cunningham will officially visit Alabama this weekend. Cunningham, who hails from West Orange (N.J.), plays for Southern California Academy. He checks in as the No. 44 overall prospect in the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings.

It is still somewhat up in the air as to where Cunningham is at in his recruitment. Cunningham did release a top five of Duke, Kansas, Memphis, Rutgers, and UCLA earlier this year, but his official visits have not been taken to any of his finalists.

Cunningham officially visited West Virginia last month, and was at USC on an unofficial in late August.

Before Southern California Academy, Cunningham played for the Overtime Elite program in Atlanta in his junior season. The summer before his junior year, Cunningham played up with the NY Renaissance program on Nike’s EYBL 17U Circuit, where he averaged 11.6 points per game. He was also named one of 16 finalists for the 2021 USA U16 National Team.

A few months ago, Cunningham had some solid outings on the camp circuit. On3’s Jamie Shaw listed him as one of the top performers during Day One of the NBPA Top 100 camp in Orlando in June. The 6-foot-7 prospect also scored 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting during a Nike EYBL Circuit game in May.

Stay tuned to BamaOnLine for more continued basketball coverage. Alabama is looking to add to a 2024 class that currently features five-star big man Aiden Sherrell. Sherrell is On3’s No. 14 overall prospect and third-ranked center in this class.

On3 Scouting Report on upcoming Alabama official visitor Naas Cunningham

“Naas Cunningham is a long, rangy, and athletic wing prospect. You first notice the frame; he looks like a basketball player. Offensively, Cunningham is adept at shot-making, extending out to three, off the catch. He will need to continue putting on weight and getting stronger. He is an explosive athlete, which he shows in transition. His length, positional size, and quick-twitch athleticism give the belief he can become a good team defender in time. Would like to see him attack the basket more, his tendency to settle for jump shots render him inefficient and ineffective at times, but he does have the ability to create space and knock down shots. While the tools are obvious, he disappears for long stretches, often. His flashes will need to start turning into consistency and production, but his flashes can be impressive, and his upside is high.” On3’s Jamie Shaw
