Recruiting Humidor: Latest on remaining 2024 targets, new names added to Junior Day roster
Inside Texas assesses the Longhorns standing with 2024 targets Ryan Williams and Alex Foster, plus dishes on new names headed to Austin for Junior Day in Friday’s Recruiting Humidor.
2024 TARGETS
Alex Foster, DL, Greenville (Miss.) St. Joseph – Baylor commit
Texas and the Mississippi native are still communicating and building toward a closer relationship. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound interior defender watched the Sugar Bowl on Monday night and has been in touch with Bo Davis and the Longhorns staff recently.
“Yeah, I’ve just been talking to Coach Bo,” Foster told Inside Texas. “He’s just been telling me how he wants me a part of their team.”
Foster is expected to host Steve Sarkisian and other UT assistants in Mississippi at some point, and Foster mentioned to IT the staff does want a chance to do an in-home and anticipates setting a date soon.
Baylor is still fighting to keep the 2024 defensive tackle, with a few others reaching out.
Ryan Williams, WR, Saraland (Ala.) – Alabama commit
When the reclassified five-star was in Orlando for the Under Armour All-American Game, he did what he always does and dominated.
The 6-foot-0, 165-pound Crimson Tide commit put on a show at UA and now has official visits set to three schools over the next four weeks: Alabama, Texas, and Auburn, in that order.
He decided to sign during the second signing window in early February so that he could take a closer look at the Longhorns and Tigers. His teammate and quarterback, KJ Lacey, happens to be committed to Texas and will join Williams in Austin in the last weekend in January.
While Lacey attempts to persuade the dynamic playmaker, there’s a sense Texas is running third in this race. That hasn’t stopped Sarkisian or Chris Jackson from making a strong push, and getting him on campus will tell this staff where they stand.
