Latest Recruiting Intel for 4-star C Derik Queen

Derik Queen, the No. 15 ranked player in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking, announced his final four schools in October. Kansas, Houston, Maryland, and Indiana made the list.

Leading into the early signing period, Indiana and Maryland both carried momentum and both programs had confidence.

While recruiting can be fluid, I have placed an On3 RPM, with 60 percent confidence for Derik Queen to ultimately commit to Maryland. Queen has taken official visits to all four schools.

Derik Queen

Derik Queen is a 6-foot-9 center originally from Maryland, who plays his prep ball at Montverde (FL) Montverde Academy. Queen averages 16.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game for the No. 1 ranked team in the country.

Queen was voted one of 22 McDonald’s All-Americans for the 2024 game. He was one of three players from Montverde to be announced to the roster.

Queen Scouting Report

“Derik Queen is a big-framed post player. He is very skilled, with big hands, strength, and confidence with the ball. He can score on the block, over both shoulders. He has footwork, patience, and an array of counters over both shoulders. He can face up and knock down a shot from three. He can also attack off the bounce as a trail big or from the high post. The athleticism is a question. Where does he guard moving forward as a below-the-rim post? When the motor is running hot, he is a good area rebounder and is an adept scorer at multiple levels.”
