Nebraska makes offer to 2026 QB Jonas Williams from Illinois

On Thursday, the Nebraska staff made a big offer to On300, four-star quarterback Jonas Williams from New Lenox (Ill.) Lincoln Way West. Williams finished his sophomore season with 2,950 total yards and 31 touchdowns.

Matt Rhule added quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator Glen Thomas in mid-January. Since Thomas joined the staff at Nebraska, a few new offers have been made to 2025 quarterbacks, but only recently have offers started to be made to 2026 quarterbacks.

Williams is a dual-threat quarterback, which fits very well into the style of football Nebraska ran last year under then-offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield. He can escape with his legs, but he is a throw-first and run-second type of dual-threat quarterback.

Williams can make all the throws and uses his feet to extend the play and move the pocket. He has a natural feel for pressure, knows how to elude it, and puts the ball where it needs to go.

Williams holds offers from Arkansas, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Purdue, Tennessee, and others, as well as Nebraska.

At 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, Williams is ranked as the No. 9 quarterback and No. 147 overall prospect nationally, per On3.  Williams is also considered to be the No. 3 player in Illinois for the 2026 class.
