After visit, Gators emerge as a top contender for 4-star Tennessee safety Jaylan Morgan

One trip to Gainesville is all it took for 4-star safety Jaylan Morgan of Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Rockvale to conclude that Florida will be a factor in his recruitment.

“I would say it’s definitely one of my top schools,” Morgan told Gators Online.

Morgan, the No. 20 safety in the country for the On3 Industry Rankings, checked the Gators out in person for the first time Thursday and the unofficial visit did not disappoint. 

“It was great,” Morgan said. “I’d say it definitely was one of the best visits I’ve been on. Loved the coaching staff. It was my fist time meeting everyone instead of just (secondary coach Will) Harris.”

According to Morgan, Harris visited his school in January. The Gators offered Morgan earlier this year. Now, Harris, a first-year coach on the Florida staff, is a big reason why Florida is trending in the right direction with this recruitment.

“Me and Coach Harris, I’d’ say we’re pretty tight,” Morgan said. “He’s one of my favorite coaches I’ve gotten to know in the recruiting world. Someone I’d want to be developed under.” 

The highlight of Thursday’s visit to Florida?

“It was the practice,” Morgan said. “I loved the energy. The energy was amazing. Everybody was just flying around with a sense of urgency and I liked that.”

Morgan made the trip with several family members.

“My mom, she’s an educator. She’s real big on education,” Morgan said. “UF had something no other school had. They have a whole facility just for a place to study. That really spoke to her and really spoke to my whole family.”

To date, the best part about Florida has been “the coaching staff, by far,” he added.

Now, Morgan is in the process of setting up a return visit.

“We’re trying to get back for an official visit,” he said. “We have the dates. We just have to get them in line, so I would say, yes, (the Gators are getting an official.)”

Tennessee, Mississippi State, Purdue and TCU are some of the other schools to watch in Jaylan Moran’s recruitment.
