Alabama guard Latrell Wrightsell to play against Florida

Super Tuesday heads to Gainesville for a massive SEC showdown between Alabama and Florida. The Crimson Tide have been without Latrell Wrightsell for some time, as the guard has been dealing with a head injury. In a video released by Alabama on Tuesday, he was seen with the team warming up and there was hope he would be available to play.

Wishes from Tuscaloosa have been granted, with Wrightsell set to play against Florida. The announcement was made during the Crimson Tide Sports Network pregame show. Positive news for Alabama as they look to secure a win on the road against a tough Gators team.

Wrightsell has not seen action since Feb. 17 when Alabama played Texas A&M. He was really becoming a key figure for head coach Nate Oats before getting injured, being in double-figures in back-to-back games.

As we know, Alabama loves to let it fire from three and nobody has been more consistent for them than Wrightsell. Shooting 44.5% from deep, Mark Sears and Sam Walters are the only other ones above 40% who get constant looks in the rotation.

While Alabama’s defense has been the main issue this season, he admitted the offense is what slowed them down against Tennessee. Scoring was a struggle in the second half and overall, the Crimson Tide shot under 25% from the three-point line.

Now, with Wrightsell back in the lineup, Oats is hoping a few more shots are able to fall. Exactly how many minutes Wrightsell can play is unknown but Alabama will just be happy to get him back in the lineup.

Alabama in need of win vs. Florida to stay in SEC regular season title race

When Alabama lost to Tennessee on Saturday, they lost control of winning another SEC regular season championship. Matters will be out of their hands, with some help needed from other teams inside the conference.

Oats is ready to see how his team responds on Tuesday night against Florida, saying all they can control now is their effort.

“We’ll see how mature our guys are,” Oats said following the loss to Tennessee. “We talk to them all the time – control the things you can control. What we can control now is our effort on Tuesday, our effort on Saturday,” said Oats. “If we’re looking for help, not getting it, and that affects our effort? Then we’re not as mature as we need to be. We’ve gotta take care of our business.”
