Auburn Recruiting Insider: Intel notebook from Under Armour Camp – Atlanta
CARROLLTON, GEORGIA – The latest intel on key Auburn targets who attended and competed in the Under Armour Next Camp – Atlanta (Carrollton, Ga.).
OT – Tavaris Dice, Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes
Dice, who has become a hot name in regards to Auburn, will now move his commitment timeline up to March. “Late March,” Dice told Auburn Live. He recently told Auburn Live after a visit that his decision would probably be made in the summer. A recent trip to Auburn just before the dead period with several family members seems to be playing a factor in the change. Auburn seems to hold an edge at this time, and it may be growing.
Dice is the No. 289 overall player int he class of 2025, the No. 21 offensive tackle, and the No. 33 player in the state of Georgia according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
IOL – Dontrell Glover, Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes
Teammates with Dice, Glover visited Auburn in January and did not talk to media following the visit. According to Glover, that trip went well–very well. Sources have indicated that Auburn may be the leader in this recruitment. Glover has named several other schools besides Auburn, but the Tigers are in the mix, and very high on his list. Glover told Auburn Live on Sunday that Auburn would “definitely” make his top schools and will get an official visit. “I’m taking an OV to Auburn,” Glover told Auburn Live. Glover believes Auburn is sitting in a nice spot for his teammate, Tavaris Dice, as well.
Glover is the No. 161 overall player int he class of 2025, the No. 9 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 23 player in the state of Georgia according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He was committed to Alabama at one point, but has since decommitted.
LB – Darrell “Duke” Johnson, Eastman (Ga.) Dodge County
Johnson is a new name to track at linebacker, and one to monitor closely going forward. He was scheduled to visit Auburn in January, but an injury in a basketball game did not allow him to travel that weekend. He will return to Auburn in the spring and will officially visit after that.
After Johnson was unable to visit Auburn, Tigers’ linebackers coach Josh Aldridge visited for one of his basketball games. Aldridge told him to point him out after a dunk. Johnson did just that.
Johnson is the No. 65 overall player in the 2025 class, the No. 5 athlete, and No. 11 player in the state of Georgia according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
RB – Akylin Dear, Quitman (Miss.)
According to Dear, his interest in Auburn is not solely because his lead recruiter at Ole Miss joined the Tigers’ staff. Derrick Nix, Auburn’s new offensive coordinator and running backs coach, has prioritized Dear. According to Dear, “Auburn has always been there.” One of the biggest factors for Dear is the opportunity to play early. He knows fellow Mississippi native Jarquez Hunter personally and loves how he was used at Auburn dating back to his freshman season. Auburn is in the mix with schools such as Alabama, Georgia, USC, and Ole Miss.
Dear is the No. 149 overall player in the 2025 class, the No. 10 running back, and the No. 4 player in the state of Mississippi according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
