Broncos, Chiefs to play game in Denver in frigid conditions, snow
The Kansas City Chiefs travel to Denver to face the Broncos on Sunday for what will be the first snow game of the 2023 NFL regular season. Temperatures at Mile High range from a high of 29 degrees and a low of 13 degrees with six to 14 inches of snow forecasted to fall throughout the day.
The scenes from the stadium are of a winter wonderland, despite Halloween still being days away. Las Vegas oddsmakers don’t give the Broncos any advantage for hosting the Chiefs in the blistering conditions. Denver is still a seven-point underdog at home on Sunday. That is largely due to Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes who is 12-0 all-time against the Broncos.
Playing along with the theme of the day, the Broncos posted a video of the snow-covered seats at the stadium with a crackling hearth displayed on the video board, captioning the post: “Football weather.”
Hopefully, the brave fans in Denver can get some chili at the concessions. One fan who will not be in the stands is the Chiefs’ newest, most popular supporter – Taylor Swift. Travis Kelce’s Grammy-winning girlfriend is back in show mode as the next leg of the Eras Tour begins.
Kansas City kicks off against Denver on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.
Chiefs WR Justyn Ross placed on exempt list following arrest
The Kansas City Chiefs will be without wide receiver Justyn Ross for the foreseeable future after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell placed the former Clemson star on the exempt list. Going on the list means that the wideout can’t practice or play until his matter is resolved with the league.
Ross entered a plea of not guilty on Tuesday following his arrest for alleged domestic battery. Despite the legal trouble, he practiced with the team this week. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters that the team will continue “taking in all the information.”
“With Justyn Ross, just addressing that up front, we’re taking in all the information, and have been. We’ll continue to do that. He’s back here. He’ll work today and we’ll just take it from there. Other than that I don’t really have any information for you other than what we’ve gathered,” Reid said prior to Ross’s designation to the commissioner’s exempt list.
Ross pleads ‘not guilty’
Per the TMZ Sports report, Ross faces charges of domestic battery and criminal damage of greater than $1,000. He was released on $2,500 bond after appearing in court via Zoom on Tuesday.
It had previously been reported that Ross was booked on a charge of criminal damage of greater than $25,000.
The victim claims Ross was “dragging her through the house and has torn up the house.” She also claims that the receiver broke her cell phone during the incident.
The Chiefs player is due back in court regarding the charges in December. No further details regarding the receiver’s arrest were made available at the time of the report.
Ross has played all seven games this season for Kansas City, hauling in three receptions for 34 yards.
