Canes continuing to climb for 2025 OL Mario Nash who is eying spring visit: “Honestly, it’s the brand of Miami”
The Miami Hurricanes have made the cut for DeKalb (Miss.) Kemper County offensive tackle Mario Nash, who is now down to 10 programs after trimming down his list of over 20 offers.
After visiting Coral Gables just before the dead period, the No. 359 overall prospect in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking is high on the Hurricanes early, thanks to his growing relationships with Miami head coach Mario Cristobal, offensive line coach Alex Mirabal, and grad assistant Reginald Bain.
“The relationship has been good,” Nash told CaneSport. “I’ve been talking to coach Cristobal and coach Mirabal. They’re great coaches, and I had a good visit to Miami. It was a great campus, and I enjoyed my visit there. Coach Bain is a great coach as well. Everything is going well with them.”
Coming off his visit earlier this year to Miami, Nash is hoping to return to South Florida soon, with eyes on a springtime visit and a potential official visit as well later on.
“Definitely trying to get back down there during the spring,” Nash said. “And I think we are going to be taking an OV there as well.”
While Nash may have cut down his list of schools to ten, four programs have begun separating themselves in recent weeks after making the Mississippi native feel like a top priority.
“Everyone in my top 10, but the ones that recruit me the hardest right now would be Penn State, Florida State, Mississippi State, and Miami,” Nash said. “Those are some of the priorities schools.”
When looking into a program, the 6-foot-6, 275-pounder says development on and off the field is near the top of his list of needs.
“One of the main things I’m looking at is player development,” Nash said. “Also great tradition and a place where I can be developed on and off the field.”
Nash believes Miami has all the tools to grow him as a football player and a young adult.
“Honestly it’s the brand of Miami,” Nash said when asked what attracted him to the program. “Also the facilities; they have a nice campus, and Miami has a lot of guys that they have produced and go onto the NFL and have great careers.”
In the coming months, Nash is hoping to trim his list of programs down further before eventually locking in his future home.
“I’m thinking it’s going to be before fall camp,” Nash said. “I should be narrowed down and hopefully have a commitment by that time.”
CaneSport’s take
The Hurricanes have continued to steadily climb up Nash’s school ranks and are right in the mix near the top of his list of programs. Communication between the two sides has played a pivotal role in his liking of Miami and should continue to do so as time goes on.
