Coveted New Jersey OL bonding with Gators, sets visit
With the dead period coming to a close, 2025 offensive lineman Malachi Goodman is gearing up to make multiple stops on the recruiting trail.
As of now, two schools have locked in a date with the 3-star prospect out of Paramus (N.J.) Catholic.
One of them is the University of Florida, which offered on Jan. 17.
“I should be going to Florida on March 9,” Goodman told Gators Online. “The coaches I talk to from there are pretty cool and I am building a relationship with them. I’m going down to Florida to spend more time with the coaches, build a connection and get to know the program more.”
Kaleb Johnson, who takes on the role of quality control – offensive line, speaks with the 6-foot-5, 295-pound junior the most. He spent his playing career at Rutgers, and prior to teaming up with UF, spent three seasons on the Scarlet Knights’ staff, providing another recruiting connection to New Jersey.
“I talk to coach Johnson the most. We have just been getting to know each other,” said Johnson.
Goodman, On3’s 32nd-ranked offensive tackle, is coveted by numerous additional Power-Four programs as well.
Those include Michigan, Georgia, Penn State, Miami, Stanford, USC, Oklahoma, South Carolina, West Virginia, Illinois and Nebraska. The Trojans are the other program with a confirmed visit date, as Goodman is traveling out to Los Angeles on March 23.
According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, Penn State holds the slight advantage over Maryland. Those leading odds, however, are only at 28.4 percent.
“I can’t really tell where (the Gators) sit in my recruitment because I haven’t visited them yet,” said Goodman.
