Five schools are at the top for 2025 4-star WR Cortez Mills

Five schools are at the top for 2025 4-star WR Cortez Mills

Homestead (Fla.) four-star wide receiver Cortez Mills currently holds 42 offers. At least 10 schools contact him daily.

But right now, five programs are standing out to him the most. They are Clemson, Miami, LSU, Nebraska and Penn State.

“They’re keeping in contact with me every day,” Mills told On3. “I’m building bonds with these schools.”

Mills was in Lincoln visiting the Cornhuskers for the first time in mid January and he returned to Coral Gables to see the Hurricanes late last month. Meanwhile, the 6-foot-1, 170-pound wideout has been to Clemson and hopes to take trips to LSU and Penn State in the coming weeks.

According to Mills, he is “pretty open” in his recruitment and considering other schools such as Florida State and Georgia, who he may visit in March. However, the No. 22 player in Florida already knows what he wants in a program.

“The playing time and the relationships are key,” said Mills, the No. 141 overall prospect and No. 19 wide receiver in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. “They do not only have to have a relationship with me. They also have to have one with my mom. That will play a big role in my decision too.”

Miami and Nebraska are making strong impressions on Mills

Miami began recruiting Mills during his freshman year. He has already visited the Hurricanes over five times.

At the moment, wide receivers coach Kevin Beard is one of the staffers leading Miami’s charge for Mills. The two of them have built a strong bond.

“He has trained receivers that put up stats,” Mills said. “That really shows me that they can keep throwing them the ball and he will help them develop.”

One of the reasons why Mills is feeling good about Miami is that the Hurricanes have consistently recruited him. As a result, he is very intrigued by the ACC program.

“They still keep contact and make sure I’m doing well,” Mills said. “They always get me in the building and show love. The environment is great over there.”

Regarding Nebraska, the Cornhuskers made a strong impression on Mills during his recent unofficial visit. He currently plans on taking an official visit to Nebraska during the season.

“When I first got out there, I could feel the vibe,” Mills said. “The environment was outstanding there. They showed a bunch of love. It was cold… but once I got used to it, it wasn’t that bad. The facility was amazing and I just can’t wait until it’s done so that when I take my official visit and see it again, I know it’s going to be one of the top facilities in college football.”

Mills is also interested in Clemson, LSU and Penn State

Clemson is playing a significant role in Mills’ recruitment because he hears from the Tigers every day. His top contact in Death Valley is wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham.

On Mills’ last trip to Clemson, he attended a camp and toured the program’s facilities. The Sunshine State native is certainly hoping to return there and spend time with coaches such as Grisham.

“He keeps it real,” Mills said. “He’s a young guy, so I know he’s going to stay around for a long time and be able to get me right and develop me for the league.”

Mills is also looking forward to seeing LSU and Penn State. His contacts in Baton Rouge and State College include Tigers co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton and Nittany Lions wide receivers coach Marques Hagans.

“What’s really put them high on my list is that they come down every chance they can to see me,” Mills said. “They text me every day and they show love. Once I get up there, I know the environment will be outstanding too.”
