Five-star LB Jonah Williams schedules return trip back to Oregon

One of the nation’s top defenders in the 2025 class is getting a closer look at Oregon next month.

Five-star LB Jonah Williams out of Texas has locked in his next trip out to Eugene to check out the Ducks for March 17, he tells On3.

Williams, the No. 13 player in the country in next year’s recruiting class out of Galveston (Texas) Ball High School, will get another look at Oregon when the five-star hybrid defenders make his way back next month This marks the On300 junior’s trip up to Oregon after visits there last summer and during the season.

“That’s gonna be a great experience,” Williams previously told On3 about his interest in the Ducks. “I’m very excited. I have a lot of family that lives by the campus. I have a great feeling talking to them and it’s always been a fan favorite for everyone because of their jerseys, but my brother and I loved Oregon … My brother played quarterback so he was always putting on and watching Marcus Mariota. We always great up watching them, so it’s a great feeling to have great bonds with the coaches.”

Oregon safeties coach Chris Hampton is leading the charge for Williams for the Ducks.

“Coach Hampton,” Williams previously told On3. “He is always asking me about me and making sure I’m good, and I like everything about him.”

The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder is the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 2-ranked LB in next year’s class, but also sees snaps at safety and on the offensive side of the ball for Ball High School. Williams is also a very highly regarded baseball prospect as well.

“Oregon was a vibe. I really liked the atmosphere and the facilities. The fans and the energy around the team was fun to be around. (I enjoyed seeing) how the team got into the mindset for the game and the preparation for the game. The staff made sure to give me a good inside look into the program,” Williams told ScoopDuck after the September visit.

“I love everything they have to offer – both coaches. The energy both Lanning and Lupoi present themselves and how they act around the players and vibe,” he continued. “We related relatively easily. The football game for sure was my favorite part about the visit. The fans and the energy and the game day atmosphere.”

Williams is the No. 3 overall prospect from the Lone Star State in the Class of 2025, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Five-star LB Jonah Williams scouting summary

“Rangy linebacker prospect who is a menace in space. Has the long speed and fluidity to function in space as a zone or man defender in the passing game. Excellent frame and build for an inside linebacker. Measured in at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds during summer campus visits and has plenty of room to fill out. Tested well in explosive drills during camp settings. Impressive baseball prospect as well as a pitcher and outfielder. Sideline to sideline speed is easy for him, covers ground in a hurry. One of the more physically impressive recruits in the 2025 recruiting cycle. High upside prospect whose best football is ahead of him.”
