Flip watch: Alabama commits on Auburn’s radar

Possibly the biggest news in years hit college football when it was announced the Alabama head coach Nick Saban would retire. Even before that, Auburn and Hugh Freeze have made it clear that they would target Alabama commits.

Auburn 5-star signee Perry Thompson was the first who flipped from Alabama to Auburn. Then, more recently, 4-star 2025 defensive lineman Antonio Coleman flipped his commitment from the Tide to the Tigers. Could there be more? We have some candidates to watch.

WR – Ryan Williams, Saraland, Ala.

Williams has been a flip candidate for Auburn for some time. He has visited the Tigers multiple times while always re-affirming his commitment to the Tide but seemingly leaving the door open for Auburn. With the news, does this help Auburn’s chances with Williams? According to our intel, Auburn was slipping some, but this could change things–although it is no guarantee by any means.

Williams is strong in his commitment to Alabama. Depending how other staff positions shake out could be important here. Auburn will get the last official visit before he signs with his school. There is a lot of time between now and when he signs. He is arguably the top overall recruiting target for Auburn.

Edge – Zion Grady, Troy, Ala. (Charles Henderson

Grady committed to Alabama in November. He visited Auburn several times before and even once as an Alabama commit. We know that Auburn has continued to recruit Grady and may even turn the heat up now. Keep in mind, Auburn is in the hunt for a defensive coordinator currently. Does a new coordinator prioritize his skillset even more? Maybe. Grady is one to keep an eye on.

RB – Anthony “Turbo” Rogers, Pike Road, Ala. (IMG Academy)

Rogers, originally from Pike Road, Ala. has been committed to the Tide since June. He is strong in that commitment. Auburn, though, is in need of a running back, maybe two, in the 2025 class. Rogers has been a target for Auburn for a while, but there has not been much traction as of late. Again, the recent news is worth noting in these recruiting battles. Auburn will continue to heavily recruit Alvin Henderson from Elba, Ala., but Rogers is absolutely on the radar too and has visited a handful of times.

IOL – Dontrell Glover, Fairburn, Ga. (Langston Hughes)

Glover, who has been committed to Alabama since April, made it to at least two Auburn games this past season. He snuck out from media both times he attended. There is a connection with Glover and Auburn. Glover is teammates with Tavaris Dice, a major Auburn offensive tackle target for 2025. He is also teammates with elite 2026 linebacker target Tyler Atkinson. Both Dice and Atkinson have been frequent visitors to Auburn and Glover has been with them more times than not. Auburn is looking to load up on the offensive line in 2025. Glover is absolutely one to watch for the Tigers moving forward. Where Glover stands on Auburn’s board is not clear, but he is certainly being recruited by Auburn.
