Four-star RB Daniel Hill ready to reveal his college decision at the All-American Bowl on Saturday
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Daniel Hill has wrestled with his college decision on several occasions over the past few months.
Hill, the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 14-ranked RB in the nation out of Meridian (Miss.) High School, signed his national letter of intent privately during the Early Signing Period. During Saturday’s All-American Bowl in San Antonio, the four-star from the ‘Sip will go public with his decision.
Alabama, Mississippi State, Tennessee and South Carolina will each have hats on the table in the Alamodome as Hill goes public with his choice.
“Honestly, I think everyone knows where I’m going, but I felt like I did enough trolling,” Hill told On3 during Wednesday’s All-American Bowl practice.
“Honestly, it wasn’t a hard decision,” he continued. “When it all came down to it, talking with my family and sorting everything out, we all came to a conclusion about whatever was the best fit for me and I think I made the right choice.”
A handful of different SEC programs have been at the forefront with the 6-foot-1, 220-pound bruiser at different junctures of his recruitment.
South Carolina, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi State have each been leading the way with Hill, who turned his phone off to coaches in November before buckling down to make this decision.
“The whole month fo December I wasn’t talking to anyone,” he said. “From November through Signing Day, I wasn’t talking to college coaches. It odl them to give me time to think about it and let me know pray about it, let me talk to my family. We sorted it out and I picked what we felt was best for me.”
Hill was originally scheduled to commit in September. He flirted with committing on several occasions since then before electing to sign last month and go public with that decision during Saturday’s live broadcast on NBC.
“I was about to commit two or three times throughout the process, but every time I kept pushing it back and was giving other coaches a change to recruit me and give me their pitch,” Hill explained.
“I’m glad I did that,” he said. “It gave me the best feeling to know that this is where I wanna go.”
Alabama is trending on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. After almost 20 or so visits to and from Tuscaloosa over the past two years, Nick Saban and Robert Gillespie made a sizable impression on the nation’s No. 188 overall player.
“They’ve been recruiting me for a while,” Hill said of Alabama. “I don’t know how many times I’ve been up there, but it’s been a lot. The legacy they have … not just with RB, but the whole program plus the RB legacy, that’s something you got to take into consideration as a RB going to Alabana, being coached by Nick Saban. Coach Gillespie is a wonderful coach.”
“Alabama did what they’re supposed to do,” he added in, “And everybody will find it out on Saturday.”
