Gators pushing Auburn most for 4-star DL commit

Gators pushing Auburn most for 4-star DL commit

One of the Gators’ top flip targets made another appearance in Gainesville on Saturday, as Auburn commit Malik Autry attended junior day.

A 4-star defensive lineman from Opelika (Ala.) High, Autry has now visited Florida four times since last year. He is the 22nd-ranked defensive lineman and 234th-ranked prospect in the 2025 class.

“It was cool,” Autry told Gators Online. “I got to see coach (Gerald) Chatman, the new d-line coach, for the first time and meeting him was great. It was not much of a drop off from when coach (Sean) Spencer was there.

“I think it went very well. The coaching staff is still the same, everybody has been pretty consistent, and I had a good time.”

The hospitality was on full display

Autry is already accustomed to Gainesville and its surrounding. There is not much he hasn’t seen on campus, so the primary objective on Saturday was simply meeting the aforementioned Chatman.

“The main thing was he was not going to compare himself to another school or talk bad about another school,” said Autry. “The main thing was making me better as a player. We watched some of my film and he told me what I did good and what I can get better at.

“That was big for me with him just coming in and already thinking ahead by making me a better player. It was about making me the best player I can possibly be. I left with some good advice.”

With most of Autry’s family in town, Billy Napier made sure to spend quality time with them as well.

“He is always happy when I keep coming back,” said Autry. “It was my fourth time this time, so he wants me to keep coming back. I’m going to try coming back in the spring. It was good catching up with him and he was happy to see us again. It went pretty well.”

Florida is not just another contender for Autry

As expected, The Gators are not the only program hoping to flip Autry away from the Tigers.

Additional schools making a push include Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Miami and Kentucky.

The Gators, however, are the No. 2 option for Autry. We have been hinting at that in most of our articles, and the junior confirmed that after Saturday’s visit, which he rated a “9 or 9.5.”

“Florida is definitely the main one,” said Autry.
