Georgia still lurking in the recruitment of 4-star TE Caleb Odom

Georgia still lurking in the recruitment of 4-star TE Caleb Odom

Carrollton (Ga.) four-star tight end Caleb Odom appears to still be on the minds of Georgia. Odom, the No. 25 overall prospect in the 2024 On3 Rankings is committed to Alabama.

He has been committed since July 15. Odom is solid on Alabama at the moment as well.

“I’m locked in with Bama 100 percent,” Odom said.

Georgia has still continued communication with Odom. He’s been communicating with Georgia a few times a week. Georgia wide receiver coach Bryan McClendon was in attendance for Odom’s game on Friday night against Westlake.

Though Odom is considered a tight end around the country, Georgia has taken some interest in him as a wide receiver.

“They’re still hitting me up for sure,” Odom said. “I went up there to that camp in April and showed my wide receiver skills and they liked it. They’ve kept texting me and recruiting me. Georgia is that in-state school, so I’m going to still look at it for sure and keep seeing what they’re doing.”

Georgia is still something to consider for Caleb Odom

Odom will sign in December. The clock is ticking for programs to make their final runs at him before the early signing period opens on Dec. 20.

When it comes to Georgia’s role in his recruitment over the next two months Odom is looking to ‘keep taking things slow’.

Odom doesn’t have any plans to return to Athens as of now. That could be something he considers at some point. Odom didn’t take an official visit to Athens over the summer.

He’s still open to that possibility.

“Day by day, if something pops up and Georgia wants to get me down for an OV, it’s always a possibility,” Odom said. “The next steps will be taking it slow.”

Odom still has a lot of admiration for Georgia simply because of the geographical factor. He’s been on campus a lot in his time in high school.

“I’ve been up there so many times, so it kind of feels like a second home,” Odom said. “Whenever you go up there so much and watch so many football games, they’re always going to be in the running. They’ve won back-to-back national championships. Any team that’s good in-state, there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be in consideration.”

McClendon’s presence at Odom’s game on Friday night did not go unnoticed by the four-star pass catcher.

“Seeing him shows me that they’re starting to show a little more interest, that isn’t ever bad for him to come to watch some football,” Odom said.

The nuts and bolts of Georgia’s pass-catching corp

Georgia has two tight ends in the class of 2024 committed already in four-star Jaden Reddell and Colton Henrich.

Odom has been aware of how things are playing out in Georgia’s tight end room as well as their passing attack that has Carson Beck sitting with the sixth most passing yards in the country.

Odom is interested in seeing how the passing attack looks without star tight end Brock Bowers as well.

“They just lost Brock, so I’m excited to see how they use the other tight ends,” Odom said. “The passing game intrigues me. It’s just another reason why that school is great. It shows that they know what they’re doing. It’s appealing to me, wanting to get the ball a lot and being a pass catcher in that offense.”
