Inside The Lines: Get to know Miami 2025 WR target Koby Howard
Over the last 16 months, it has been a long journey for Davie (Fla.) Western 2025 four-star wide receiver Koby Howard. After breaking his leg at a Miami camp back in the summer of 2022, Howard would go on to miss the majority of his sophomore year rehabbing the injury before eventually transferring schools ahead of his junior season.
Now back at full strength, Howard is once again garnering the attention of some of the top programs in the country and showcasing why he deserves to be considered as one of the best receivers in the nation.
“It feels great, and I feel like it was all God’s plan,” Howard said. “He led me down here to showcase my talents after breaking my leg at the Miami camp. It’s been great, and I’ve been putting on a show.”
This season, Howard has been a force for his Wildcats team, racking up 664 yards and six touchdowns in six games played. That production has teams across the nation after Howard, who recently visited Miami for its matchup against the Virginia Cavaliers on Oct. 28.
“I really like how they changed the program around this year, and they’ve looked good despite the two losses they had,” Howard said. “My dad grew up a fan of Miami, and they offered me in the hospital, and just all the love and support they gave me all plays a factor in me maybe committing to them in the future.”
Although Miami head coach Mario Cristobal’s gesture to go to the hospital following Howard’s injury may have been something small, that action plays a large role in how the No. 362 overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, views the entire program.
“The relationship is always going to be great because they came and offered me in the hospital,” Howard said. “The message that they have for me is that I’m always welcomed in Miami. Whenever I want to commit, they’ll take me in a heartbeat. It’s just a great vibe from them.”
As far as his relationship with rest of Miami’s staff, wide receivers coach Kevin Beard along with Cristobal and others have been extremely hands on and have made Howard feel like a priority for the program.
“The relationship is really great, and ever since August 1st, they’ve made it a priority to keep in touch with me,” Howard said. “Coach Beard will call me for like an hour, and we’ll just chop it up for like an hour. Not even about football, just about life and stuff. I feel like the relationship I have with coach (Mario) Cristobal and coach Beard is a great relationship.”
In CaneSport’s latest installment of Inside The Lines, we discuss a handful of topics with Howard, who has become one of Miami’s most sought-after wide receiver targets in the 2025 class.
