Intel from four-star LB Jonathan Cunningham’s official visit to Texas
Inside Texas caught up with On3 Industry Ranking four-star and Fort Worth (Texas) North Crowley linebacker Jonathan Cunningham after his official visit to Texas.
Cunningham said the visit went fantastic, and that he loved the culture of the team and what the staff has built. Culture, according to Cunningham is one of the top things he’s looking for in his program.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder said his feelings for Texas are the same as they have been: he holds Texas in high regards, sees it as a place he can envision going, and there’s love for the city of Austin as well.
Most of the visit was spent with Johnny Nansen or with host TyAnthony Smith. As far as where Texas stands, Cunningham didn’t want to specify if he had a leader but he did say the Longhorns were near the very top.
Nansen discussed on-field usage and how he’d fit at Texas. Nansen praised Cunningham for the effort showed on his film and went over some of the things he could improve on. The effort, though, was what Nansen liked because that can’t be coached. Texas also gave Cunningham a lot of information on the educational opportunity at Texas and how playing football for the Longhorns can open up a lot of doors for his entire family.
The Longhorns are very well-positioned and are right where they want to be in this pursuit.
Cunningham is currently scheduled to visit Kansas next weekend but Missouri is trying to get the DFW linebacker to Colombia, Mo. instead.
He’d like to announce his decision before the start of North Crowley’s 2024 season.
Cunningham is ranked as the No. 378 overall prospect, the No. 41 linebacker, and the No. 60 player in Texas according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
On3 ranks Cunningham as the No. 43 linebacker and the No. 75 player in Texas.
