‘It’s hard to turn down a school like them’: Four-star WR Chance Robinson giving Ole Miss, Lane Kiffin long look
St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) wide receiver Chance Robinson committed to Miami in April. After, he mostly focused on preparing for his senior season. A year which has seen the four-star prospect make 31 catches for 419 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Then, the 6-foot-1, 205 pounder thought he would venture out and see what else is out there. On Saturday, the nation’s 125th overall prospect per On3’s Industry Ranking took an official visit to Ole Miss. There, he got a front row seat to the No. 10 Rebels’ 38-35 victory over Texas A&M.
“Nothing else to be said. It was a great game,” Robinson said. “Great intensity, great attitude and proof in the pudding offensively.”
Miami has struggled this year on the field. And the struggles continued Saturday, losing to NC State. But Robinson has held firm in his commitment. But, Ole Miss has now positioned itself in a good spot.
“This visit changed my recruitment a lot,” Robinson said. “Ole Miss has been recruiting me for a while. They just weren’t sure if I was going to buy into the program or not since I was committed to Miami. They were a little passive, but they have been coming after me and after visiting Ole Miss, it definitely opened my eyes.”
Ole Miss’ reputation as a WRU program paired with Lane Kiffin‘s swagger has grabbed Chance Robinson’s attention.
“It’s hard to turn down a school like them,” Robinson said. “They develop receivers and get them the ball. I’m building a connection with those guys. You saw Tre Harris go off in the game. It’s a great school.”
Kiffin has been personally recruiting Robinson along with wide receivers coach Derrick Nix and offensive analyst David Whitlow. All three have done a phenomenal job in short time to give Ole Miss a chance at a late flip prior to national signing day.
“Coach Kiffin texts me time-to-time and explained his recruiting process and how they operate in our meeting Saturday,” Robinson said. “The program is laser-focused. They avoid distractions and mistakes. He was great and straight-forward. I really like that.”

Chance Robinson spoke with On3’s Chad Simmons after the visit Sunday. He spoke about Kiffin’s honesty once more.
“Coach Kiffin told me, if you want to be a draft pick, then you go to Ole Miss or Ohio State. He was so straightforward about it and I liked that. He said, if you’re an offensive tackle, then you go to Miami. Coach Cristobal breeds offensive linemen, but Ole Miss and Ohio State breed receivers.
“That is big for me. Coach Kiffin is such a chill coach. He is not glamorous. He is the same all of the time and he just keeps it real. Everything he was saying made sense.”
Derrick Nix also had a sit down meeting with Chance Robinson. The plan is simple.
“He just showed me how Ole Miss plans to get me the ball in its offense,” Robinson said. “They get the players the ball. They show creativity to get the ball to guys with different skill-sets. Coach Nix is a cool coach, their offense is exciting and they sling the ball around.
Robinson is the country’s 22nd-ranked wideout and Florida’s No. 17 prospect. He tells On3’s Stephen Wagner he still intends on visiting Miami again when the Hurricanes play Louisville. But, it’s evident Ole Miss made a rather large impression on him over the weekend.
“Miami is home. They are going through some rough times, but hopefully they are building things up to get positive results,” Robinson said. “Miami is still where I am, but I am still weighing things out. This visit to Ole Miss was big and it will be the same when I go to Ohio State next weekend.
“Ole Miss and Ohio State have always been in consideration.”

Ohio State will get Chance Robinson’s final official visit next week. He says he will do a lot of thinking afterwards.
“I will know after next week, I think,” Robinson said. “I’m working towards being a December graduate and signing early.”
