James Coley brings stellar recruiting reputation to USC
South Carolina football is expected to officially approve a contract for James Coley during a Friday afternoon Board of Trustees meeting.
The 50-year-old has spent time on the staff of several major programs, including Florida State, Georgia, Miami, and Texas A&M, and he will arrive in Columbia with a reputation as one of the country’s top recruiters.

Coley brings extensive ties in the Sunshine State, particularly in South Florida.
Longtime recruiting analyst Larry Blustein has spoken in the past of Coley’s recruiting acumen in that part of the program.
“He’s like a pied piper,” Blustein once told The Athletic. “He’s a player’s type of coach. Kids always like him. Kids gravitate toward him.”
