Jerry Jones comments on where Dak Prescott stands coming off of 49ers loss
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hasn’t lost confidence in quarterback Dak Prescott coming off the 42-10 Week 5 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers this past Sunday.
Jones told 105.3 The Fan Friday that Prescott possesses every quality the team values in a quarterback to take them to the Super Bowl — something they haven’t done since 1996.
“He grasps this offense,” Jones said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “He’s a part of the construction of this offense. He grasps it as well as anybody we’ve ever had play the position. … He’s got very, very, very top skills. He has great experience. He’s a winner. … We really have an asset in terms of the QB position in our pursuit of getting in a Super Bowl.”
Prescott has had a frustrating 2023 campaign. He has thrown for 1,061 yards with five touchdowns and four interceptions on 69.4% passing. Prescott and the Cowboys’ offense were stifled by San Francisco’s defense, as the 30-year-old threw for just 153 yards to go along with three interceptions.
Prescott described the game as perhaps the most humbling one he’s ever been a part of.
“Didn’t see it coming,” Prescott said. “Put everything into this, and got punched in the mouth. It was humbling a couple weeks ago against Arizona. But this may be the most humbling game I’ve ever been a part of. Felt good about the preparation. Felt good about everything honestly coming into this game and they beat us in every aspect.”
Jerry Jones voices support for Dak Prescott
During his Tuesday appearance on the Dallas radio station Jones, reaffirmed his support for Prescott.
“Dak Prescott is a quarterback that can get us to the Super Bowl and that’s the way that’s going to be. I want to be real clear: Dak’s very capable of making this team be where we want it to go,” Jones said. “We should recognize that we had a very bad outing. And San Francisco had a very good outing.
“But as far as sitting here saying we should completely change out the towels here, that’s not even in the cards. And it’s really ridiculous.”
