Kam Mikell is heading elsewhere, where does Georgia go now?

Statesboro (Ga.) four-star athlete Kam Mikell will play college football elsewhere.

The No. 74 overall prospect in the 2024 On3 Rankings committed to Colorado on Thursday.

That leaves Georgia still in search of a wide receiver to add to the class. Mikell was originally offered as a defensive back. Georgia had begun pushing for Mikell as a wide receiver after losing the commitment of four-star wide receiver Ny Carr.

What are Georgia’s options moving forward?

Georgia to go flipping?

The first option is to go and work on flipping prospects committed to other schools.

The first target that could remain a focus is four-star NC State commit Terrell Anderson. Anderson has been in contact with Georgia wide receiver coach Bryan McClendon heavily all fall.

Georgia got Anderson on campus for an official visit back on Nov. 4.

The No. 78 overall prospect in the 2024 On3 Rankings has also been in contact with Georgia five-star quarterback commit Dylan Raiola.

“He was telling me that he needs that guy he can go to getting first downs,” Anderson said last week. “He watched my film, his dad watched my film too. They talk about me. He needs a guy that he can get the ball to.”

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Georgia trending to eventually land Anderson. The Bulldogs have a 94.5 percent chance of landing the four-star according to RPM.

Transfer portal

The transfer window opens on Dec. 4. The next month will be a time of transition around the country. Georgia could be an option for multiple wide receivers.

This is pretty self-explanatory and become much more clear-cut in the coming weeks.

Stand pat

There are two wide receivers in Georgia’s class already. Four-star NiTareon Tuggle has been committed to Georgia since April 11.

In-state three-star Sacovie White has been committed since Oct. 22, 2022. Looking at the current roster, Georgia could potentially still go into spring with the Ladd McConkey, Rara Thomas, Dominic Lovett, Dillon Bell, Jackson Meeks, Arian Smith, CJ Smith and Mekhi Mews all back.

Each of those players has played meaningful snaps in 2023. Tyler Williams and Anthony Evans are both former four-star signees from the class of 2022 who haven’t played a major role in 2023.

The wide receiver room in Athens is well stocked if they only add two new names to the fray in the class of 2024. The Bulldogs have also landed two tight-end commits in the class in four-star Jaden Reddell and Colton Heinrich.
