LSU CB Denver Harris enters NCAA transfer portal

LSU cornerback Denver Harris entered the transfer portal on Thursday night, per On3’s Pete Nakos

Harris transferred to LSU after one year at Texas A&M where he was dismissed from the team. After a promising start to his career in Baton Rouge, Harris was practicing with the team for the last half of the season, but remained on scholarship, Brian Kelly said.

Early on, there was a learning curve for Harris, but eventually the Tigers turned to younger options on the perimeter.

“He’s learning our coverages,” Kelly said of Harris early in the year. “He’s a press corner, and we don’t just play press. There’s a lot of different things that he’s learning. This is new to him, but he’s learning. He wants to get better at it every day.”

Harris was LSU’s highest-ranked transfer addition before the 2023 season.

Now, Harris looks for his third team in three years after leaving LSU. The cornerback from Houston was a five-star prospect by the On3 Industry Rankings in the 2022 class as the No. 23 player in the country.
