Major linebacker target Jason King discusses Kansas State visit
Kansas State has hosted a handful of 2025 prospects just before the dead period began February 5. Two weekends were full of visitors. A major one took place on January 27 and it was followed by another on February 3.
A significant prospect that was on hand was St. Louis linebacker Jason King.
“It was great,” he said. “I had a great meeting with Coach [Chris] Klieman and Coach [Steve] Stanard and they were both very impressive. I’ve been up to Manhattan a couple of times already, but it was great to see the facilities and stuff like that again.”
One moment in particular stood out to the junior linebacker.
“My favorite part was the meeting with Coach Stanard because he showed me how I fit into their defense and how I would be used,” King shared. “I would play either of the outside linebacker positions. Either the Sam or Will linebacker.”
The K-State assistant has made King a priority.
“We have a good relationship,” King pointed out. “He coached my current linebackers coach when he was at North Dakota State and I’ve heard nothing but good things.”
While he was at Kansas State, he was joined by his high school teammate and quarterback Dillon Duff. Duff was offered by K-State January 25 and then visited Manhattan as well and has become a top target of new quarterback coach Matt Wells.
“It was fun [being around Duff],” King noted. “That’s my guy.”
A handful of schools are among the leaders for the St. Louis standout.
“K-State, Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Tennessee and Kentucky [are standing out],” King revealed. “Having a good relationship with their coaches, fitting into their scheme and being able to see myself going there has made those schools stand out.”
More visits are on the horizon.
“I’m going to visit most of my top schools in the Spring,” King concluded. “And then I’ll cut the list down before Summer for my official visits and I’ll commit before my senior season.”
