Miami among 4-star TE Marshall Pritchett’s top 10 schools, visit in works for this month
Heading into the spring, Rabun Gap (Ga.) Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School four-star tight end Marshall Pritchett has narrowed down his list of over 20 offers to a select number of programs. Pritchett recently named his top 10 schools, and Miami is among the group alongside the likes of Auburn, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.
“I think Miami has a lot to offer,” Pritchett told CaneSport. “I think just starting with the culture coach Cristobal is building. Specifically from a tight-end standpoint, Miami has had a lot of success producing them and has built a little bit of a tight-end factory to the NFL. To me, that is interesting and draws my attention. The level at which they pump tight ends out is very surprising.”
After visiting Miami during the fall, the 6-foot-5, 210-pound tight end left South Florida with an offer from Hurricanes tight end Cody Woodiel and has since kept in frequent contact with the Miami staff member.
“It was awesome, and it checked all of my boxes,” Pritchett said. “I ended up leaving with an offer, which was great. I plan on visiting again sometime in January. I talked to coach Woodiel about that, and he gave me the green flag to come whenever, so I totally plan on getting there in January.”
Woodiel is a firm believer in Pritchett, who is the No. 312 overall prospect in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking. As a junior, Pritchett caught 44 passes for 621 yards and four touchdowns.
“When he initially offered me, he told me that I’m the best Y tight end in the country,” Pritchett said. “The thing that jumps off about me to him is my intensity, and when I have to block, I’m able to do it, and when I’m split out wide, I can do that at a high level as well. He likes how complete I am. I can tell he has some belief in me, so that’s always a good feeling.”
When looking into a program, culture will be one of the biggest factors that will play in his final decision.
“For me, it’s got to be the right fit culturally,” Pritchett said. “Sometimes you get a feeling when you’re on campus. It’s really just a feeling you have. When I was on campus in Miami, what jumped out to me was how much I liked it. I really just pictured myself doing the little things, like walking to class and stuff like that. I also want to go somewhere where the staff is locked in and secure.”
CaneSport’s take
Now focused on 10 programs, Pritchett is hoping to visit his top schools with Miami on his mind. Although Pritchett doesn’t have a date set in stone, he hopes to visit Miami in the coming weeks as he inches closer to a decision which could be pivotal for the Canes.
“I really just want to get back on campus,” Pritchett said. “I want to really feel it out again and sit down with coach Woodiel for a good amount of time. I want to be able to sit down and enjoy my time because, for me, it’ll just come down to a feeling when you’re there. I think the only thing Miami could do now is keep recruiting me.”
