Miami continues to impress 2025 IOL Isaac Sowells off visit: “It’s not too many times you see a Florida school going to Kentucky”
For the second time in the last three months, Louisville (Ky.) Male interior offensive lineman Isaac Sowells Jr. was back in Miami for a visit with the Hurricanes, who are continuing to impress the three-star center. He was on campus for UM’s third spring practice.
“I had such a great time on my Junior Day visit that I really wanted to see how they coached their guys,” Sowells told CaneSport. “The biggest thing when you’re going through this process is seeing how you fit in with coaches, and the best way to do that is to see how they coach their guys and how you fit in with that.”
Sowells, who is the No. 576 overall prospect in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, believes he can thrive in Miami under offensive line coach Alex Mirabal after spending numerous hours on campus last Friday.
“One thing that stands out the most about coach Mirabal is that he’s a technician,” Sowells said. “He’s really big on technique, so watching the drills and stuff, he’s making sure his guys are doing it the right way he wants. And then I liked when we went into the classroom to talk and see the techniques he uses.”
When asked about his overall thoughts of the Hurricanes, the 6-foot-1.5, 290-pounder spoke highly of Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and Mirabal’s recruiting efforts and believes they’re building a team that can not only make a run for the ACC Championship this year but for years to come as well.
“I see coach Cristobal and coach Mirabal’s plan,” Sowells said. “It’s not too many times you see a Florida school going to Kentucky to try and find a recruit, so it looks like they’re going far and wide to try and find the best players.”
After visiting Miami, Sowells will be off to Penn State, South Carolina, Ohio State, and Wisconsin next as he looks to get a better understanding of his top schools as he gets closer to a decision.
Sowells, who is the No. 4 player from the state of Kentucky in this year’s cycle, is hoping to announce a commitment in July and believes it will come down to a gut feeling when it’s all said and done.
“Everything is going good and I’m just going through my spring visits,” Sowells said. “I also already have OV’s set up for Miami and NC State. The biggest thing will just be that gut feeling I get when I lay my head down at night, and I know I’ll be 100 percent committed. I don’t want to decommit from a school so that’s why I’m taking my time with things so there are no false promises.”
CaneSport’s take
Miami continues to impress Sowells, but this is one recruitment that will not be rushed, according to Sowells, who will be returning to Coral Gables in June for an official visit. Staying consistent with communication and continuing to strengthen their bond will be crucial for the Hurricanes over the next few months.
