Miami high on radar for star 2027 CB as recruitment picks up, Hurricanes visit set for this week
Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas 2027 cornerback Zayden Gamble isn’t yet able to be directly contacted by college coaching staffs per NCAA rules, but after landing 10 major offers since the start of the new year, the 5-foot-11 freshman is starting to feel attention from his share of college programs — including Miami.
The Hurricanes have secured their spot on Gamble’s radar after offering him Feb. 1 and locking in an unofficial visit March 28, although Texas A&M and Oklahoma State have captured his attention as well. Gamble liked the intensity the Hurricanes’ staff recruited St. Thomas Aquinas with in the 2024 class after signing running back Jordan Lyle, receiver Chance Robinson and defensive backs Ryan Mack and Romanas “OJ” Frederique last cycle, and he plans to visit Miami with one of his teammates next week.
Gamble said he feels Miami “wants you for who you really are” and is excited for his first true unofficial visit to spend extensive one-on-one time with the Hurricanes’ staff March 28.
“Miami, they’ve been sending me all of the schedules for the spring practices so I really appreciate that,” Gamble said. “I mean first, being born and raised in Miami, Florida, they’ve always been either the most hated program around or the most loved. My dad used to talk about how they would talk trash and how they just dominated the 90s and 2000s and I always wanted to be in a dominant program. I think they’re gonna bring it back this year. They have a lot of prospects and recruits I know are from down south, so I just can’t wait until it’s my turn.”
Gamble said Texas A&M and Oklahoma State both climbed on his radar after offering him earlier this year as well. He said his father has told him about the College Station area before and piqued his interest, and he wants to continue learning about Oklahoma State. He’s yet to visit either program.
Gamble said relationships will play a significant factor in his recruitment, although program facilities and resources will also play a role.
CaneSport’s Take
Miami’s recruiting investment in St. Thomas Aquinas is paying dividends with the Hurricanes capturing the attention of plenty of up-and-coming prospects early. Miami is well on 2026 safety Justice Fitzpatrick’s radar as well.
