Miami Hurricanes top-60 WR commit Ny Carr updates status following in-home visit from Mario Cristobal and assistants: “They hit it off”
Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County four-star receiver Ny Carr was one of the country’s hottest names after he decommitted from Georgia earlier this fall, but since committing to Miami in mid-October, the No. 56 overall prospect has fully locked in with the Hurricanes.
Carr hosted Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and receivers coach Kevin Beard for his in-home visit this weekend, which he said couldn’t have gone much better. Cristobal and Beard met Carr’s mom, dad, grandmother, grandfather and several aunts and uncles on the in-home visit, which was the first trip Miami’s staff has made to Georgia for Carr since tight ends coach Cody Woodiel checked up on the four-star prospect shortly after he decommitted form the Bulldogs.
“They had a positive vibe,” Carr said. “They had good energy with my folks. I could say they hit it off right with my folks.”
Carr said he wanted his full family present for the in-home visit so they could meet the coaches he’ll be with for the next three-to-four years, and he said his family felt comfortable around Miami’s staff. He said his family fully believes he’ll be well cared for in Coral Gables and is excited for his official visit to Miami next weekend.
Florida, Auburn, Tennessee and Penn State still try to communicate with Carr, but he isn’t entertaining any programs besides Miami.
“The only thing that could pull me away is coach Cristobal getting fired, and he signed like a 10-year contract,” Carr said.
Carr said he wanted to take his official visit to Miami to further interact with his coaches and meet several of his fellow 2024 classmates — like four-star receiver Joshisa Trader, four-star safety Zaquan Patterson and three-star defensive back Ryan Mack, among others — but feels Miami has already shown him everything he needs to see. He was last on campus for the Hurricanes’ Oct. 7 game against Georgia Tech and committed to the Hurricanes shortly after.
Carr said he’s stayed active in a group chat of Miami’s 2024 commits and has had chances to interact with most of his future teammates virtually, but he’s excited to meet several of them in-person next weekend.
Carr plans to sign Dec. 20 and will enroll in January.
CaneSport’s Take
Cristobal’s reputation as an ace recruiter really won the day here, with Carr heavily gravitating toward Cristobal’s personality and football mentality, but Beard and Woodiel also deserve props for helping the Hurricanes land a third blue-chip receiver in this class. Miami now has three top-150 receiver commits, something the Hurricanes haven’t done since 2008.
