Michigan signees working hard on Top 100 WR Gatlin Bair at All-American Bowl

Michigan signees Andrew Sprague and Jo’Ziah Edmond are in San Antonio, Texas for the All-American Bowl and are focused on showing pundits why they are two of the best 2024 prospects in the country.

However, the event is also giving Sprague and Edmond an opportunity to help out Michigan on the recruiting trail. After all, Top 100 Burley (Idaho) High wide receiver Gatlin Bair is also taking part in the bowl. Bair is down to U-M and Oregon and is the biggest fish left on the open market this cycle.

And yes, Sprague and Edmond have been in his ear all week.

“We’re trying to get him,” Sprague said. “I think he’s waiting until February, but hopefully, we’ll get him. He knows what’s up. I think Michigan is his favorite school. He’s just waiting to see what happens. I think Michigan has the best culture in all of college football. He can see it. There are rumors everywhere, and they’ve kept going all the way to the national championship. The culture is a big part of it. The development under (Ben) Herbert. We get three-stars and turn them into the best in the country. The education was a big part for me and helps out, too.”

Edmond, an On300 cornerback, spent a lot of Thursday’s practice covering Bair, which could be a preview of what’s to come in Ann Arbor.

Like Sprague, Edmond has been pitching Bair hard on joining him at Michigan.

“When I got here, I didn’t really know who Gatlin was until I guarded him,” Edmond said with a laugh. “I was like ‘dang, he’s fast… where is he going?’ They told me his Top 2 are Michigan and Oregon. I walked up to him and talked to him about Michigan. I told him that Michigan can get him good. I’m building a relationship with him now and trying to get him. Hopefully, it goes well, and we can bring him home to Michigan.”

Bair said he’s just having fun with the whole situation.

“Andrew Sprague and (Oregon signee) Aaron Flowers got into it a little bit, which was pretty funny,” Bair said. “I know all the Michigan commits well. It’s been good talking to them. There’s not too much to say other than turn the TV on and watch them play in the national championship. There isn’t a much better recruiting pitch than that.”

At 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, Bair is ranked as the No. 11 wide receiver and No. 43 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking.
