Michigan State to host 2024 Auburn defensive line commit

Michigan State will host a big official visit over the weekend of Jan. 26, hosting three-star defensive lineman Dimitry Nicolas of Opa Locka (FL) Miami Norland High School. Nichols (6-3, 295) has been committed to Auburn since late August of 2023.

The Miami defensive lineman holds plenty of offers including Georgia, Oregon, Miami (FL), Florida, Penn State, and more. Nicolas is ranked the No. 816 overall recruit in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings. The Auburn commitment has not visited the Tigers since his commitment in July.

“I still had to clear (my academics),” Nicolas told On3’s Jeffery Lee. “I had to upload all of my transcripts into the system and I hadn’t done that.”

“I won’t be an early signee,” he continued. “I think I’m going to take visits (in January and sign in February).”

Nicolas is now clear to take official visits and will be expected in East Lansing over the weekend. The three-star defensive lineman previously also told Lee that Texas, Pittsburgh, Auburn, and Louisville are also contenders for visits.

The three-star defensive lineman and Miami Norland finished as state runner-ups, losing to Berkley Prep. Nicolas, in nine games during the 2023 season, finished with 19 total tackles, two tackles for loss and two sacks.

Michigan State will also welcome Texas wide receiver Jaylan Brown for an official visit over the weekend. The Spartans will look to seal the deal with Brown, as he was recently offered by Michigan State and quickly scheduled the visit. Wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins currently holds a lot of momentum in the recruitment of Brown.

Spartan defensive line coach Legi Suiaunoa also played host to three-star defensive end Keona Wilhite, of Tuscon (AZ) as he took an official visit to Michigan State over the Jan. 19 weekend. Wilhite expected to wrap up an official visit to Nebraska on Jan. 24, with no other official visits currently planned.
