On3 150 PF Zymicah Wilkins recaps NC State official; breaks down potential upcoming visits

Zymicah Wilkins is the No. 109 player in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. The 6-foot-8 forward was recently named All-State for his play this season at Arden (NC) Christ School. Earlier this season, Wilkins earned Most Outstanding Player of the John Wall Holiday Invitational.

“I’ve really focused on building my body up in the weight room this season,” Wilkins told On3. “I’ve gotten a lot stronger and was able to keep it going down the stretch.”

Wilkins scored 17 points and secured nine rebounds while winning last weekend’s NCISAA 4A State Championship.

“It’s really fun right now, winning a state championship,” Wilkins said. “I was at the game last year and worked hard to be a part of it this year. Now it’s about the hard work to get back here next year.”

On3 was able to catch up with Zymicah Wilkins after his state championship performance to talk about this game and his recruitment.

“NC State is the only official visit I’ve taken so far,” Wilkins said. “I’m talking with Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Mississippi State, and LSU about setting something up soon.”

“The coaches stood out to me,” Wilkins said. “I really liked them. Coach (Kevin) Keatts and them showed me a good tour around the campus and all of their facilities. They had a great dining hall and nutrition program. The dorms were great there. It was a great visit.

“I like how they play. I watch how they use DJ Burns a little. My game is not really like his, I can push in transition and play on the perimeter a little more, but I like how they play.”

Zymicah Wilkins talks recruitment

VIRGINIA TECH: “The coaches there came to my house and they talked with me, and we have been kicking it ever since. They offered me back in the summer. We’ve got a pretty good relationship.”

GEORGETOWN: “He (Coach Ed Cooley) likes that I can play kind of positionless basketball. He told me he likes how I push in transition, get to the rim, and can get teammates involved.”

LSU: “The coaches send me something every week, and it’s not always about basketball. They’re really motivational and stuff. I know they beat Kentucky the other day too.”

MISSISSIPPI STATE: “They send me graphics and pictures all the time. We talk a lot and we have good conversations. I’ve watched them play a few times this year. I like how they use their bigs and their play style.”

“I’m hearing from Virginia and Clemson some too,” Wilkins said. “So we’ll see what they do.”

At the end of the day

“I’ll probably try and start taking a couple of official visits in the next month or two,” Wilkins said. “Before AAU starts.

“I want to go somewhere that has a great coaching staff. I want to play for someone who is going to let me play my game. That will let me have the ball in my hands, play like a point forward role, dribble and create for others.
