Penn State defensive end Chop Robinson injured, carted off in second quarter of Ohio State game
Columbus, Ohio — Penn State junior defensive end Chop Robinson left Saturday’s game with Ohio State in the second quarter due to an injury. His status to return is not yet clear.
Robinson immediately reacted with pain and remained down on the Ohio Stadium turf after a pass rushing collision with Ohio State lineman Matthew Jones. The Lions medical staff worked on the Lions’ pass rusher while he laid on his stomach. It later rolled him onto his back and eventually helped him sit up. Then, two people assisted Robinson to the sideline medical tent. A short while later, he was carted off to the locker room with a towel over his head.
At the time of the injury, Robinson had no counting stats but was impacting the game with his trademark ferocious pass rush. The game was tied at three. Two plays later, Lions linebacker Curtis Jacobs forced a fumble and retuned it a long way to the end zone. But, Penn State cornerback Kalen King was called for defensive holding, which negated the play. Ohio State later punched it in on that drive to take a 10-3 lead as of this writing with 7:31 left in the first half.
