Ryan Williams talks Alabama commitment status following Auburn visit

Ryan Williams talks Alabama commitment status following Auburn visit

Alabama wide receiver commitment Ryan Williams has been a constant presence at the Capstone this season. The Five-Star Plus+ prospect attended each of Bama’s first four home games: MTSU, Texas, Ole Miss, and Arkansas.

This past weekend, Williams opted to visit Auburn for their game versus Ole Miss. Even so, the elite junior out of Saraland High School tuned in for Alabama’s matchup with Tennessee.

“You know it! I was watching it on Auburn’s big screen,” Williams told BamaOnLine. “I watched it the whole time. Man, [Jalen] Milroe is getting better game by game. The interception, you just have to take that one with a grain of salt off the deflection. He’s just getting better week by week. So, LANK — Let All Naysayers Know.”

Williams communicated with Bama his intentions to visit Auburn prior to taking this trip.

He spoke with Holmon Wiggins and Travaris Robinson, as well as a couple of Alabama players, after the Tennessee game.

“I talked with Coach T-Rob and Coach Wiggins,” Williams said. “I talked with [Isaiah Bond] and Jermaine [Burton] after the game. The coaches were telling me to enjoy my visit and that we have plenty of time to do what we’ve got to do.

“IB told me I’m supposed to be smoking a cigar with him,” Williams added with a laugh.

Williams also said there was no reason to worry about his recent visit to Auburn over the weekend.

“Coach [Hugh] Freeze, he was coaching at Ole Miss,” Williams said. “I just wanted to see how that would go because I’m going to be at Alabama for three-to-four years.”

Coming off this visit, there has been speculation about the Tigers picking up traction with Williams. So, how would the No. 3 overall 2025 prospect in the country respond to that speculation?

“Roll Tide Roll,” Williams replied. “I’m definitely locked in. I’m just enjoying the process.”

The highly productive pass catcher explained why he remains firm in his commitment to Alabama.

“Like I always say, it’s the constant love,” Williams said. “Just them proving that I can enjoy my recruiting process and not them basically holding me hostage. They’re fine with me doing everything I want to do because they know what’s going on.”

Ryan Williams: Alabama is improving each week

Ryan Williams has seen noticeable improvements by Alabama’s offense over the past few weeks. He dished out his assessment of what he’s seen from their wide receivers, in particular, as of late.

“They’re making the plays when they’re in position,” Williams said. “I was talking to them before the season even started… now that [Milroe] is putting the ball there, they’re making plays. That’s all I was really expecting. They’re definitely balling out.”

Assessing the team as a whole, Williams is excited about what the Tide have been doing on both sides of the ball.

“Like I said, they’re just getting better and better each week,” Williams said. “The defense is playing with their hair on fire. The offense is capitalizing and getting better. I’m just ready to be a part of that.”

On a regular basis, Williams and his family hears from Bama wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins. Wiggins’ track record at Alabama continues to remain of high interest for Williams.

“That’s my guy,” Williams said of Wiggins. “He’s helped to develop a lot of other great receivers. It’s not like he doesn’t know what he’s doing. He’s been a part of a couple of great teams, so I definitely know that he’s going to tell me what I need to know in order to execute at the next level.”

Williams also mentioned that he’s ready to learn under Nick Saban’s tutelage when he gets to Bama.

“It’s a blessing,” Williams said of playing for Saban. “You see him on TV, and he’s an even better in person. I’m very blessed, and I’m just ready to be there.”

Williams knows of a couple of more visits he will take this season

Williams says he does not expect to visit any schools this upcoming weekend.

He intends on heading to Alabama for the LSU game on Nov. 4. He’ll get to watch the Tide again when they face off against Auburn on the road on Nov. 25. The two weeks in the middle are currently open for potential visits, though nothing is set in stone.

Prior to concluding his conversation with BOL, Williams reiterated that he is solid with his pledge to Bama.

“I’m locked in,” Williams said. “Roll Tide.”
