SMU commit Javion Holiday connects with coaches at Junior Day
2025 Duncanville (Tex.) defensive back Javion Holiday was back at SMU on Saturday, getting a chance to build relationships with his future coaches. On campus with his teammates, Keelon Russell and Tyren Polley, there were a few things that excited Holiday about the visit.
“It was real good,” Holiday told On3. “It wasn’t too many people so we got to connect with the coaches more. I liked how the stadium is gonna look.”
SMU defensive backs coach Rickey Hunley and the rest of the staff are building a strong bond with the three-star prospect. The 6-1, 180-pound prospect committed to SMU in December.
“The coaches tell me they’re ready to coach me,” Holiday said. “It feels like I’m already at college with him to be honest. We have a good bond. I feel like I can just talk to him regular.”
Holiday said everything’s good with his SMU commitment and he doesn’t have other visits planned for this month. Baylor, Miami and numerous others are after him to change his mind, but fresh off his visit to the Hilltop, he said things are looking good with his pledge to the Mustangs.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Holiday ranks as the No. 475 overall prospect in the country, No. 54 cornerback in the nation and No. 80 prospect in Texas.
