South Carolina continues to be a strong player for 2025 4-star QB target Ryan Montgomery

South Carolina fell to Florida 41-39 after a back-and-forth battle for four quarters, but the Gamecocks fought hard, the crowd was into the game and 2025 quarterback target Ryan Montgomery enjoyed his time in Columbia.

Shane Beamer, Dowell Loggains and the staff at South Carolina have made the No. 237 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings a priority. Montgomery has visited a handful of times, Loggains was recently up to check on the signal caller at Findlay (Ohio) and despite the loss, this visit was another step in the right direction for both parties.

“This was my first game day visit at South Carolina and it was as advertised,” Montgomery told On3. “The game was awesome, it was a high-scoring, back-and-forth game and it was great.

“I loved how the South Carolina offense played and how Spencer Rattler played. He was dealing like he has been all year. It’s been fun to watch him. The fans were rowdy all game too. The Carolina fans are wild.”

South Carolina put up over 460 yards of offense. Rattler threw for 313 yards and four touchdowns. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound junior liked what he saw.

“I do really like the offense. I think I would be a great fit in their scheme and under coach Loggains. He gives Spencer a lot of freedom at the line of scrimmage, and with his NFL background, I know that he knows how to develop you the right way.”

South Carolina is a strong contender for Montgomery

The Sandstorm tradition by the fans caught Montgomery’s attention. The game itself stood out as well. But his time with Beamer and Loggains was a big part of this visit and the two parties continue to develop their relationships.

“They have made it clear ever since they’ve started recruiting that I am their No. 1 guy,” Montgomery said. “The relationship keeps growing and there is no doubt that South Carolina is a school that will be in it till the very end.”

Montgomery will be back at Ohio State next weekend for the Penn State game to see his brother Luke Montgomery in action. Then he will visit Auburn the following week. The Tigers did not make his top five, but have quietly jumped in this race as a major contender in recent weeks.
