‘Still breaking it down and going through the process’: 2025 linebacker Jarcoby Hopson updates recruitment, decision timeline

2025 Lake Cormorant (Miss.) linebacker Jarcoby Hopson has seen his recruitment really take off after a big sophomore season and successful camp run earlier this spring and summer. Now, with his junior year drawing to a close, he is ready to take his recruitment to the next step and narrow things down.

“I’ve been going to a lot of schools lately,” Hopson said. “Mostly just breaking things down. I will release a Top 10 December 3.”

Ole Miss currently leads Hopson’s Recruiting Prediction Machine over the likes of Auburn, Mississippi State and Florida State. The 6-foot-2, 205 pound prospect has taken several trips south to Oxford, Miss., this fall, but several staffs are staying in contact.

“A lot of schools talk to me. LSU, Texas, Michigan State, Missouri,” Hopson said. “Schools like that hitting me up. But I’m still breaking it down and going through the process.”

Jarcoby Hopson has a methodical approach to the process. He makes sure to do his homework on Saturdays.

“I watch for enjoyment and also watch Will linebackers,” Hopson said. “Even when I’m in person, I watch in-depth at my position. I try to picture myself out there, it’s a better look.”

The versatile athlete does it all for Lake Cormorant. He plays offense, at every level on defense and special teams.

“Some are recruiting me as a safety and some are recruiting me as a linebacker,” Hopson said. “Ole Miss is recruiting me as an outside linebacker. The staff has been trying to get me up there a lot so I can see what I will play in their scheme.”

2025 four-star Jarcoby Hopson

It’s an all hands on deck approach from the Rebels for Jarcoby Hopson.

Everyone from Lane Kiffin to the analysts on staff make sure Hopson knows he’s wanted by Ole Miss for the Rebels’ 2025 class. He feels the love every time he goes to campus and when he talks to the staff.

“I’m just building a relationship as much as possible,” Hopson said. “Pete Golding, Kelvin Bolden, (Alex Faulk) Suge. All of them.”

December 3 is the date Hopson will be narrowing things down and naming a top schools list ahead of his senior season. He says it will be the first step in the process before he approaches a decision.

“A lot of coaches will be hitting me up in December so it made the most sense after talking with my coaches and my dad,” Hopson said. “I will be committing some time in August.”

Jarcoby Hopson has been building a bond with the Ole Miss staff since he was a freshman.

And now with the addition of Golding to the staff, the relationship has only gotten stronger. I spoke with Hopson back in February at the Under Armour Next Camp in Atlanta about his bond with the Rebels and his talks with the new defensive coordinator.

“Coach Pete is a very cool person, he was telling me where I would play in his defense,” Hopson said. “He’s been very welcoming.”

Wes Neighbors is also talking to the DeSoto County recruit. He says Ole Miss likens him to 2023 signee Suntarine Perkins.

“They like me as an outside linebacker/safety,” Hopson said. “The JACK position.”
