The Wolfpacker Show: NC State bye week thoughts, baseball, basketball and wrestling talk
NC State football is on a bye week, but The Wolfpacker Show is back for another episode. The Pack is hard at work during its 14 days away from game action to make strides on the field before a matchup against Clemson at Carter-Finley Stadium.
Coming out of the bye week, crossover season is on the horizon. ACC basketball media days take place Oct. 24-25, and fall baseball scrimmages just wrapped up for the Wolfpack. Ethan and Noah recorded another episode Friday, breaking down all of the recent news around the athletic department.
In this episode, they discussed:
*** Their feelings on the Wolfpack football season after reflecting on the first half of the year, sharing their respective outlooks for the final five games, featuring a pair of home games that the program can not afford to lose both of.
*** Noah and Ethan each picked an NC State athlete who could break out in the second half of the season. They each picked a true freshman, and Noah added a mention for a sophomore playmaker as well.
*** After a quick break, they talked about their recent discussions with programs other than the football team. Ethan stopped by Reynolds Coliseum this week to speak with a couple members of the women’s basketball team. He talked about the overall positive vibe around the squad. After finishing last year 20-12, the Wolfpack is motivated and ready to bounce back with a team that includes 6 scholarship newcomers.
*** Noah also talked about his experience at a pair of fall baseball scrimmages this week against Walters State. He spoke with Elliott Avent after the game, and the head coach was not happy with the performance.
“It’s the kind of game, if it were a basketball game, I’d burn the tape,” Avent said. “I wouldn’t even watch the film. We walked people tonight unbelievably. I hope it’s a lack of focus, which we can hopefully take care of by shrinking who we play. … We just have a lot of work to do.”
*** Noah also spoke with a few members of the wrestling team, including head coach Pat Popolizio, who broke down the program’s national championship aspirations for this season.
All of those topics and more are discussed on Friday’s show, which is available on audio and video on TheWolfpacker.com’s YouTube channel.
