The Wolfpacker Show: NC State men’s hoops adds hard-fought win vs. Wake Forest
Both NC State basketball teams picked up resume-building wins over the past week. The Wolfpack women dispatched Virginia by 27 points, while the men’s squad battled with Wake Forest for a critical win at home.
From the men’s program’s loss vs. UNC, to a road win over Louisville, the triumph over the Demon Deacons, and some debate over where the women’s squad should be ranked in the Associated Press top-25, there was plenty of material to discuss on this week’s podcast.
The Wolfpacker Show hosts, Ethan McDowell and Noah Fleischman, sat down to break down all of the latest storylines around each team.
Head coach Kevin Keatts received a pair of technical fouls during the Pack’s win over Wake Forest, and the refs ejected him from the game as a result. NC State’s men’s squad went on to win the contest 83-76, starting a 2-game ACC winning streak that also included an 89-83 victory over Louisville.
The Wolfpack women’s team bounced back from its long loss of the season with an authoritative win over Virginia, blowing the Cavaliers out from the opening minutes of the game. Freshman point guard Zoe Brooks recorded a career-high 19 points in the contest.

*** Noah and Ethan also briefly looked back on the Pack’s loss to North Carolina and discussed what went wrong against the Tar Heels. The Pack did not let missed threes change the game against the Demon Deacons, showing positive growth from the matchup with UNC.
*** The hosts also looked towards NC State’s upcoming showdown with Virginia Tech and made predictions for that contest.
*** After a quick break, Ethan and Noah talked through the women’s basketball win over UVA. It was a completely dominant effort and an encouraging response to the recent loss against Virginia Tech. Improved three-point shooting continues to raise the ceiling of this squad.
