‘They’re all about business’: Corey Adams has high marks for Ole Miss after official visit

Edna Karr (La.) defensive lineman Corey Adams got an in-depth look at Ole Miss this weekend. The three-star prospect from New Orleans knew from the start his time in Oxford was going to be a beneficial one “from start-to-finish”.

“I really did enjoy it. You can tell they’re all about business,” Adams said. “I bonded well with coach (Randall) Joyner.”

The Ole Miss defensive line coach was part of a three-headed recruiting approach over the weekend for the nation’s 85th-ranked defensive lineman. Adams’ conversations with Joyner were eye-opening and made a huge impact on where Ole Miss stands in his recruitment.

“I really like coach Joyner. He matches my energy,” Adams said. “He’s real cool and I wouldn’t mind having him as my d-line coach.”

Corey Adams is already familiar with Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding.

The two have talked consistently for some time now. He got a chance to sit down with Golding during his time at Ole Miss and talk about how he would fit in to what the Rebels do.

“Seeing him and catching up with him was a good feeling,” Adams said. “I can relate to him. I can see that he knows about Louisiana.”

Lane Kiffin was also a part of Adams’ visit. The two not only got a chance to talk about Ole Miss, but also a little bit about Kiffin’s journey to Oxford.

“He’s a real cool dude. I asked him about his life story, becoming the youngest NFL head coach and everything about his career up until now,” Adams said. “He was just talking to me about the school and experiences I would have if I were to come to Ole Miss.”

Of course there’s the elephant in the room: LSU.

The Tigers recruit the Edna Karr program well and Adams has been to Baton Rouge “plenty of times”. He has not taken an official visit to LSU, but he says he really doesn’t need to. He will take an official visit to TCU Thursday. Afterwards, he will see where everyone stacks up.

“I’m trying to be committed before the summer is over and get to work,” Adams said. “Ole Miss is Top 2 right now, for sure.”
