Three overlooked 2024 Gators commits
Headlined by a trio of 5-star prospects, the Gators are equipped with a recruiting class currently ranked fourth in the 2024 Industry Ranking Team Recruiting Rankings.
With a class that strong, it’s also not difficult overlooking certain prospects.
Gators Online highlights three in UF’s class who should be generating more chatter.
4-star OT Fletcher Westphal
Yes, Jordan Seaton is the No. 1-ranked offensive tackle and a major target for the Gators. He’s also not committed anywhere with signing day approaching, so he is going to soak up headlines.
However, 6-foot-8, 330-pound Fletcher Westphal is a nationally-known name as well.
The product of is an imposing presence in the trenches who makes full use of his size, especially in the run game. He shows no problem getting to the second level and does not possess much bad weight, making him even more intriguing as a prospect.
Westphal is also very coachable and mature. He has that hard-nosed mindset you want from your offensive linemen, so UF is getting a good one at a position of need.
4-star WR Izaiah Williams
When Williams committed in May, many UF fans were not familiar with him and even questioned the staff’s decision. That is because the Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day star missed all of his junior season due to injury.
Well, let’s just say Williams has since proved any doubters wrong in a major way.
This fall, the Gators commit reeled in 44 passes for 904 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also starred at cornerback, recording three forced fumbles and two interceptions, including one for a touchdown.
This was a good evaluation from the staff when numerous others were playing the waiting game. The Gators are in need of quality depth at receiver and positioned to sign another one out of Tampa.
3-star CB Teddy Foster
Representing Sarasota (Fla.) Cardinal Mooney, Foster is one defensive back I’m very high on.
He is rarely at a size disadvantage and makes use of his frame to intercept or deflect passes. Foster passes the eye test as it is but should fill out and carry his weight well. This is one of those new-age cornerbacks with plenty of length.
It’s difficult finding taller cornerbacks who do all the little things well like Foster. I’m actually surprised he does not have four stars attached to his resume.
Foster’s physical makeup, ball skills and ability in press-man coverage has me excited about his potential in Gainesville.
Stay tuned to Gators Online.
