Weddington (N.C.) four-star defensive lineman Aiden Harris hasn’t visited Miami before, but the 2026 prospect is plenty familiar with the program and is eyeing a spring visit.

Harris, the No. 22 overall prospect in the On300 and No. 3 defensive lineman in the 2026 class, is the nephew of former Hurricane Denzel Perryman and received a Miami offer earlier this year. College coaches are not yet permitted to directly call or text 2026 prospects, but the 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive lineman said he wants to make the trip to Coral Gables next week during his school’s spring break. He also has plans to visit Georgia, Oregon, Ohio State, UCLA, Ole Miss and LSU. He’s already visited UCLA, USC and NC State so far.

Harris holds offers from more than a dozen schools including Miami, Auburn, Ole Miss, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and others.

“I love the state of Florida,” Harris said. “The weather, the people down there, it’s a good environment. It’s different when you can go somewhere you really enjoy being and still play football. You can do both. I like that.”

Harris spoke with a trio of Miami assistant coaches earlier this month along with his cousin, four-star 2026 Weddington linebacker Thomas Davis Jr., the No. 76 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, who Miami also hopes to bring to campus this spring. Harris said he hasn’t had tremendous contact with many schools recently but said NC State and “a couple of SEC schools” have done strong jobs recruiting him thus far.

Harris reacts to top-25 On300 ranking

Harris said his No. 22 overall ranking came as a surprise and he, his coaches and mother were all ecstatic to see his first-ever ranking in the On300.

“I didn’t see it at first,” Harris said. “My coach, he called me out of class to tell me. When I saw it, I sent it directly to my mom and I told her what happened. She posted it everywhere, on every social media page she’s got.”

CaneSport’s Take

Miami has been able to consistently get blue-chip prospects to campus for most of the spring, so it shouldn’t be a surprise if the Hurricanes get many more elite playmakers to Coral Gables later this spring as they continue to lay the foundation for a promising 2026 class.
