Transfer Portal Q&A: Rush end Shittah Sillah
Rush end Shitta Sillah is looking to bring the heat off the edge after transferring to Purdue from Boston College in the offseason.
Sillah, who has one year of eligibility, is one of three rush ends to commit to Purdue from the portal, joining Georgia’s CJ Madden and Franklin College’s Jireh Ojata.
The 6-4, 253-pound Sillah was a three-star recruit coming out of high school in 2019 before matriculating to Chestnut Hill. After getting some playing time his sophomore and junior seasons, Sillah started to make an impact as a pass rusher.
The Somerset, N.J., native who played at Mater Dei Prep looked like he was going to make an impact before an injury took him out for the 2022 season. He never returned to form in 2023. Shillah made 80 tackles with 6.5 sacks and 12.0 TFLs while at BC.
Get to know Shillah in this Q&A transcribed from a Boilermaker Alliance video interview.

Q: Why Purdue for you?
A: Purdue is a great place. What Coach (Ryan) Walters is building here, I couldn’t pass up an opportunity I had to take advantage of.
Q: What do you want to prove?
A: I just want to prove that I am disruptive, that I can pass rush as well as stop the run. And I can help Purdue win some games.
Q: What’s gonna be your role?
A: I feel like I’m an explosive player. I’m fast. I’m powerful. And I can help rush the passer, as well as stop the run.
Q: What was your high school recruitiment like coming out of New Jersey?
A: I had a handful offers. I decided to go to Boston College. I just feel like that was the best fit academically. I had a great five years there, and I just decided to come to Purdue because I felt like that was the best opportunity and decision for me going into my last year.
Q: What did you know about Purdue before coming here?
A: I didn’t know too much besides Drew Brees went here and they play in the Big Ten. This is my first time to be in Indiana.
Q: How has the transition from Boston to West Lafayette gone?
A: I feel like the biggest differences, being in the Midwest, things are a little dialed back. Less people on the road. Not a lot of traffic compared to Boston. It’s been going well so far. I’m enjoying it.
Q: What have you learned about Purdue since being here?
A: I’ve been learning this scheme and everything about Purdue. The best thing I’d say is the people here. Everybody welcomed me so much. And I’m really grateful to be here.
Q: Found any good restaurants yet?
A: I haven’t. I just have been going to chain restaurants like Subway and a couple other spots. I’m definitely looking to venture out and look at some other spots.
