USC DL commit Isaiah Gibson on Auburn visit: ‘I loved everything about it, honestly’
AUBURN – Auburn hosted potential 5-star USC Edge commit Isaiah Gibson for the A-Day game weekend. Gibson took a full weekend trip for his second trip to Auburn.
The trip was one he had been looking forward to.
“I already had this planned like a month and a half prior,” Gibson said. “I loved everything about it honestly. I have been here since yesterday, we arrived around 4. Ever since I touched down in Auburn I loved everything about it honestly.”
Gibson, who committed to USC in March, is the No. 24 overall player in the class of 2025, the No. 2 edge, and the No. 7 player in the state of Georgia according to the On3 rankings.
Full visit day Saturday
Gibson had a full day at Auburn Saturday.
“I had a lot of meetings, player meetings, talk to Coach Freeze–I liked talking to Coach Freeze for sure,” Gibson said. “Then just the overall environment at Auburn, it’s good energy everywhere. The players had good energy early in the morning. All around just a good feel at Auburn for sure.”
He loved talking with Hugh Freeze during their meeting.
“I like how he is apart from football, the things he says are not all about football,” Gibson said. “That’s a big part for me for sure.”
Josh Aldridge is the main point of contact.
“I talk to Coach Aldridge about every two days, we talk a lot,” Gibson said. “He is very big on family, good family culture too. We talk about family and how they’re doing, all of that.”
The A-Day game was a highlight of the day.
“It was good, I feel like it was good energy, I feel like the offense got a little leeway because of Coach Freeze,” Gibson said. “I feel like it was a good game. My boy Cam, he was going crazy today for sure.”
Gibson could see himself playing alongside Keldric Faulk in the future.
“Number 15 for sure,” Gibson said. “I’ve seen him before the game, he was telling another player to go harder. I want that in a teammate for sure. He’s also going to come in and be a little bit older than me. I feel like I could have him as a mentor for sure.”
What is next?
He believes the SEC is superior to other conferences and will continue to consider those schools.
“I would say honestly I can see myself at any SEC school,” Gibson said. “With all the SEC offers I have I can see all SEC at the top. SEC is basically the underdog to the NFL.”
A return visit and an official visit will happen.
“I don’t know exactly when but I for sure will,” Gibson said.
He currently has three official visits set so far.
“I have Georgia the first week, South Carolina the second, and Florida the third week,” Gibson said noting he would probably officially visit Auburn in the fall.
Gibson is committed but keeping an open mind with Auburn and others.
“I’m committed, I don’t plan on de-committing, but I feel like I should always keep my options open,” Gibson said. “As everybody knows anything can happen.”
