WBB Recruiting Intel: LSU’s top targets for 2024 and 2025

LSU continues its conference season after a get-right win over Florida over the weekend, but in the time between games, the recruiting trail has heated up both for the 2024 and 2025 classes. Here’s the latest update on every prospect LSU is targeting in both classes and everything to know.

2024 updates

*** Another update passes without hearing anything new on Sarah Strong. The No. 1 player in the country continues to wait and wait, leaving the teams pursuing her in the dark. LSU and UConn were the top two teams and are likely still at the top, but it seems no one knows where she’s at. LSU will likely be taking a trip to watch her play in the coming weeks, but we don’t have details. A date thrown around for a decision could be April 2, at the McDonald’s All-American game showcase.

*** Awa Fam, the 6-foot-4 center from Spain is still someone LSU is pushing hard for. LSU has a zoom set up with her this week as she makes her decision of her future between staying in Spain or coming to the US to play college basketball.

*** Pania Davis, a 6-foot-6 junior college post from Australia is someone LSU is working to see if she could possibly transfer out of New Mexico junior college after one year, but there are working parts that make it challenging. It’s looking more likely she could be a 2025 target instead. If that’s the case, I think LSU will still want her next year.

2025 updates

*** LSU assistant Gary Redus is on the way to watch the No. 1 player in the 2025 class per ESPN, Aaliyah Chavez, tonight in her final regular season game of the year. Both Redus and Kim Mulkey also intend to travel to Lubbock to watch Chavez’ playoff game. The No. 1 player is someone not expected to drag out this process, so it’s important for LSU to stay in constant contact.

*** LSU is also expected to take a trip to see Jasmine Davidson later this week. Davidson is the No. 2 player in the 2025 class and visited LSU two weeks ago. The feedback from LSU’s side is that it was an overwhelmingly positive visit and the Tigers are in a great spot. Duke and USC are the other two programs she’s expected to visit before making a decision, but Davidson will likely not be extending too far into the Summer, if at all, so there’s optimism for LSU.

*** Zakiyah Johnson, the No. 5 player in the class was originally scheduled to visit this past weekend, but Johnson moved back her timeline and won’t be deciding until the fall, so LSU is saving its official visit with her.

*** Bella Hines is another player high on LSU’s board. Hines is ranked as the No. 31 player in the class, but LSU is much higher on her and sees her potentially as a top 15 player. LSU will  be heading to one of her games late next week. Definitely a name to watch for here as LSU has pushed hard for Hines and just awaits her official visit once her high school season is over. Baylor and Iowa are two of the other prominent teams here. Hines is also on the same AAU team as Chavez.

*** Addison Deal, the No. 12 player in the class, is someone LSU feels like they are in the lead for early, hosting her on an unofficial visit in the fall. A decision could come soon, but a date is not set at the moment.

*** The 2025 class was initially thought to be smaller in size, but from what I’m hearing, it feels like this could certainly be a class with three or four players. Obviously, Chavez and Davidson are two players LSU is all-in on, but if LSU can get a combination of Deal, Hines, or Johnson, that would be a successful class.
