Why Offensive Players Want To Transfer To USC
Part of today’s modern college football roster comprises transfer portal building blocks. No one will say the Trojans don’t have their fair share of the market cornered. Over the last couple of weeks, those building blocks got the chance to introduce themselves to the media.
WeAreSC asked them why, USC.
Jo’ Quavious Woody Marks:
USC running back Woody Marks (Erik McKinney/WeAreSC)
His birth name is Jo’Quavious Marks, however the nickname “Woody” is the name that stuck when his mom got mad. “I once scored in an away game and they said my name wrong,” he explained. “My mom got mad and she went up to the press box and she was like, ‘just call him Woody.’ We went to an away game again and they said it wrong. She’s like, ‘call him Woody. Just go by Woody.’”
Recently, Marks told us why he chose USC. “It’s a great program.–A historic program. The offense is pretty good. Lincoln Riley is offensive-minded, great coach, so that’s why I chose the Trojans.”
One of the many things that made USC’s football program “great and historic” is “how awesome” the Trojans running back room has been as Woody remembers all the ones who played before him; Guys like MarShawn Lloyd and Reggie Bush.–“I think it’s a special place to play running back at.”
Jayden Maiava:

One dayJayden Maiava was a Georgia Bulldog and the next day some like myself would say, common sense kicked in and Lincoln Riley was his ultimate choice. Its hard to argue, even if you’re a Georgia fan, but If you play quarterback, and want the best development, then USC and Riley make more sense.
Why would one of the hottest transfer portal QB commodities change his mind?–What changed?
Maiava’s answer was simple, “Not really much, I wanted to play under Lincoln Riley. Just the things he’s done, and all of his accomplishments he has under his belt.
Jaden Richardson:

They say good things come to those who wait.
Ironically, Jaden Richardson didn’t really get to experience the recruiting process coming out of high school, “I didn’t have a lot of offers.” That all changed when he entered the transfer portal, he had options. Former Division-III wide receiver from Tufts University Richardson said, “He grew up an SC fan, and my dad’s family is from around here so once the opportunity presented itself it was kind of a no-brainer.”
Now that he’s had a chance to actually experience being a Trojan, Jaden said, “It’s special.”
